I am so glad someone is blogging…….! We were snorkeling until a few days ago. Gary has been hauling to ride. You never called to tell me how trail went. I heard you are the trail Queen????
Trail…now that is a looong story. The last time I rode in a trail class was at Shades of Summer I&II in Sedalia a couple of years ago. I rode a WP gelding I had who had never done trail and frankly, would spook at his own shadow when he had a mind too. I did it to fill a class for a friend of mine. Well! I got the lowest score probably ever recorded by AHA (MINUS 65) but I was not DQ’d (hey, I can get a horse through a pattern and not go off pattern) and got 2nd in the class thus qualifying for Region 11. hahahahaha!!! I took a bow after that class to roaring applause in the arena from all my “friends” who showed up to watch me get this horse through it.
I’m pleased to say in Texarkana last month not only did I take ANOTHER WP horse that had never done trail to fill a class but we also got 2nd with scores of 55 and 62 (POSITIVE). If he hadn’t snorted at that gate we could have won the durn thing. I’m actually working him on trail now and the gate will not be an issue again
Isn’t that about 100% improvement??? So tell Gary that I am real good at remembering patterns and no matter what adversity will make every attempt not to be DQ’d. hahaha!
sooo, I was pondering what to do in Tull Arkansas where it NEVER RAINED A DROP yesterday and decided that my rain voodoo (read: “reining” voodoo) must only work in TX. So I will be traveling to TX on Saturday come rain, snow, sleet or hail to see my girl Val and Linda and Gary and Tami. Watch out, get your floaties out…no rain is going to stop me this time! I’ll be wearing my trail tiarra and life preserver.
Rain or Shine you will be galloping circles until your buns are sore…………with unbrella in hand and Tiarra on your head. If I was you I would remember those bicycle shorts…….T
Just got back from TX yesterday and had a wonderful (too short) visit with Gary and Tami and seeing my horse Val (Cupids Valentina B). It was tooo much fun! I was grinning all the way home after my first official reining lesson with Gary. If anyone hasn’t ridden with Gary you are missing a treat! (and no Gary, I am NOT sore, didn’t even head to the hot tub!). Val looks great and I can see that my dream of her reining career may very well come true, she is doing great! I’m really looking forward to the next visit in a couple of weeks. Hope to see some fellow reiners at Region IX, Good luck to all the Ferguson Performance Horse competitors, I’ll be cheering everyone on!
Well Girl…..you did a great job and trust me….you better enjoy not being sore now. Gary is ready to put you to work. You did a great job and we are so excited to get to see you show your mare when she is ready. You guys are going to make a great team. SLIDE TO WIN!!!!! If you aint Reinin you aint livin…….. See ya soon.
Back from Region IX and had a good time meeting new folks and renewing friendships. (George it was great to meet you!) As always as a charter member of the Matt Dillon fan club I enjoyed seeing Matt and Gary at work and visiting with Linda. Looking forward to coming down and riding again soon! (After hearing some horror stories from Linda about calloused body parts and skin damage I’ll be there with my padded underarmor)
